In April 2020, a coronavirus stimulus check of $2,000 was sent to most American adults. Eight months later, Congress agreed on a $900 billion coronavirus relief bill. The new bill would send out another stimulus check, this time worth $600. On Tuesday, Pres. Donald Trump said the checks should be worth $2,000. According to Insider polling, 72% of Trump supporters think $600 is too small.
Former President Barack Obama threw some geographic shade at the Trump administration in an interview with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday. Business Insider reports Obama praised President-elect Joe Biden's foreign policy picks for the incoming administration. Obama said that he was looking forward to seeing an administration where people 'know where countries are.' In June 2017, President Donald Trump reportedly mispronounced Nepal and Bhutan as "Nipple" and "Button." When looking at a map, the leader of the free world had to be told where the countries were located.
Having grudgingly green-lit the peaceful transfer of power, President Donald Trump is now perfectly poised to proceed with a parade of pardons. Trump has already commuted the sentence of his informal adviser Roger Stone. But what about Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who is still in home confinement serving out his prison sentence? Even more to the point, what about Trump himself? Trump has repeatedly asked aides about pardons for himself and his family members--and whether he could issue them preemptively. CNN reports the question of self-pardoning may be moot. If Trump faces any criminal charges, they'll be at the state level, not federal. US Presidents are not immune from any state charges.
"These are all Biden trials," Donald Trump says as he arrives at a New York courthouse where prosecution and defense teams are set to present opening arguments in the former US president's historic hush-money criminal trial. "I'm here instead of being able to be in Pennsylvania, in Georgia, and lots of other places campaigning," he adds. Trump, 77, has been ordered by the judge to appear in the Manhattan court for the duration of the case, largely keeping him off the campaign trail for weeks as he challenges President Joe Biden for the White House in November's election. A makeshift migrant camp looks nearly empty in Mexico's Matamoros, at the border with Brownsville, Texas, where Democrat US President Joe Biden is expected to meet border patrol and other law enforcement agents. Also heading to the border is Republican former president Donald Trump, who will be about 300 miles (480 kilometers) to the west in Eagle Pass. The Texas showdown comes at a time when record numbers of migrant crossings into the United States are posing a threat to Biden's chances of preventing a Trump comeback in November's presidential election.
