Bangkok, Apr 24 (EFE/EPA).- Patchanee Thanomphong, an 85-year-old Thai woman, and her family on Friday helped those in need by donating cash worth around 500,000 baht (about $ 1,540) to families affected by government-imposed restrictions to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.As of Friday, Thailand has 2,584 confirmed coronavirus cases and 50 deaths.   • Thai opposition movement donates medical equipment to help combat COVID-19

    Bangkok, Apr 21 (EFE/EPA).- The Progressive Movement, a poltical movement formed by opposition leader and billionaire tycoon Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit of the now-defunct Future Forward Party, has partnered up with private engineering companies in Thailand to produce medical equipment and distribute them to hospitals across the country for free in an attempt to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, according to a press release made available to EFE on Tuesday.By collecting data and designs from a Thai crowd-sourcing Facebook page dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic and the Faculty of Medicine of Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University, the movement and its partner parties manufactured 11 mobile clinics for patients with respiratory problems and 18 patient transportation chambers, which will be distributed to 12 hospitals across the country between Apr 24 and May 3.
