Marking a key milestone in its Nissan NEXT transformation plan, Nissan today unveiled the all-new Ariya. As the company’s first all-electric crossover SUV, the Ariya opens a new chapter for the Nissan brand and embodies the company’s vision: enriching people’s lives.Representing the pinnacle of Nissan’s technologies and design, the 100% electric Nissan Ariya debuted during a digital event in Yokohama. The model is a major step in Nissan’s transformation as the company refocuses on key strengths, including electrified vehicles and SUVs.The Ariya sets the pace for Nissan’s plan to roll out 12 new models in 18 months. The all-new crossover demonstrates Nissan’s commitment to meeting customer demand for new electrified, autonomous and connected technologies.Nissan expects sales of EVs and e-POWER electrified models to be more than 1 million units a year by the end of fiscal 2023. By then, the company also aims to introduce autonomous driving technologies in more than 20 models in 20 markets, and to have sold more than 1.5 million vehicles equipped with these systems.

It embodies the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision of personal transportation - one where electrification and vehicle intelligence will offer seamless and adaptive travel experiences free of accidents or harmful emissions.The Nissan Ariya Concept expands on design elements first hinted at by the Nissan IMx concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. They include the bold electrified V-motion signature "shield" and striking rear light blade, short overhangs, and an interior that feels more like a lounge than a conventional vehicle.Although it's a concept vehicle, the crossover EV's bold styling and unconventional interior and exterior elements could make it into production in the near future."The Ariya Concept represents a strong collaboration between design and engineering," said Yasuhiro Yamauchi, representative executive officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Full power on snow and ice: With its advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system, Nissan has started an electrifying test drive through the Pyrenees and three countries. The drive concept specially developed for the electrified Nissan models, which uses electric motors on each axle, guarantees safe and reassuring driving behavior in every situation.Whether at the dawn of spring in the Alps, in the hot summer through southern Europe, on windy and leaf-covered roads in English autumn or through the slippery and freezing winter landscape of Bavaria: Nissan e-4ORCE technology masters all seasons with flying colors.Even the toughest conditions are no problem for the all-wheel drive offered for the electrified X-Trail and the all-electric Ariya: Nissan has conquered the snowy mountains in the Pyrenees and completed laps on the world's highest permanent racetrack in Andorra at 2,400 meters - impressive proof of the excellent handling and maximum control that the e-4ORCE offers even under extreme winter conditions.In order to guarantee safety and driving pleasure in everyday life, the Nissan engineers have concentrated on three core elements during development: the management of the electric motors, the all-wheel drives and chassis control technologies. The use of two electric motors eliminates the cardan shaft that is necessary with conventional mechanical all-wheel drive systems. A differential is also superfluous. This results in new creative freedom and more space in the interior.

Nissan announced an all-new compact electric vehicle coming to European markets. Planned to be manufactured in the Renault ElectriCity centre in France, the new car will succeed the iconic Nissan Micra as the entry-level vehicle in the Nissan line-up.The Europe region is already playing a key role in driving electrification under Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision, with new vehicles and technologies arriving soon including the new Nissan Ariya, a new EV crossover and Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology arriving in Europe in the new Qashqai and X-Trail.The all-new electric compact car will further enhance this future line-up.
