Elephants are preparing to take their final bow at the Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus, ending a 145-year spectacle that delighted fans and enraged animal activists. Vanessa Johnston reports.

EU leaders are determined to "act very quickly" on a plan to use the profits from frozen Russian central bank assets to arm Ukraine, the European Council President Charles Michel says. Polish ultra far-right MP Grzegorz Braun is expelled from the chamber for using a fire extinguisher to put out a Hanukkah menorah, a nine-branched candelabra, placed in the lobby of the Polish Parliament.
