In electric-only mode not just free of local emissions but also efficient and sporty – Audi is consistently pursuing its electrification strategy with its comprehensive plug-in hybrid offensive. Audi is presenting the hybrid variants of the models A8, A7 Sportback, A6 and Q5 with an electric range of more than 40 kilometers in the WLTP cycle at the Geneva Motor Show. Thanks to different output levels, the customer has the choice between a comfort variant and a performance variant with a sporty design, depending on the model series.
Audi is systematically pursuing its electrification strategy and is now offering its large four-door coupe as a powerful and efficient PHEV. Intelligent drive management with a predictive operating strategy enables high electric range, low fuel consumption and dynamic performance. The new Audi A7 Sportback 55 TFSI e quattro combines all of that with a system output of 270 kW (367 PS). A comprehensive list of standard equipment with S line exterior package and sport suspension round out the sporty look.
The Audi A7 is the “2019 World Luxury Car.” The A7 is the second Audi to take home the award after the Audi A8 won it last year. The awards were presented today at the New York International Auto Show. The World Car jury, consisting of 86 members from 24 countries, voted to distinguish the Audi A7 as the best new luxury car on the world market. This is the tenth victory for Audi in one of the World Car categories.“It is a great honor for Audi to win the ‘World Luxury Car’ award twice in a row,” says Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG Technical Development. “We are very proud of this award because it shows Audi’s ability to develop leading premium cars in various segments.”The 2019 Audi A7 builds on the heritage and success of the first generation, with the spaciousness of a sedan, versatility of a sportback and emotional design of a coupe. Its signature silhouette is defined by a sloping roofline, giving the A7 unique character, improved usability and easy access to the spacious cargo area.Powerful and efficient, the A7 is equipped with a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine that produces more torque compared to the outgoing A7 due to a twin-scroll turbocharger replacing the supercharger. Producing 335 horsepower, the A7 can sprint from 0-60 miles per hour in 5.2 seconds. The A7 also comes standard equipped with 48-volt Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology, and the newly developed standard steel front and rear suspension allows for both a sporty driving experience and more comfortable ride for long distances.
Audi is expanding its selection of plug-in hybrid models by launching sales of the Q5 Sportback TFSI e quattro on European markets. The elegant SUV coupé is rolling off the assembly line in two output levels: The Q5 Sportback 50 TFSI e quattro2 delivers 220 kW (279 PS) of performance, the Q5 Sportback 55 TFSI e quattro3 delivers 270 kW (367 PS). On both models, the lithium-ion battery can store 14.4 kWh of net power – enough for an electric range of up to 61 kilometers (37.9 mi) according to the WLTP (71 kilometers (44.1 mi) under the NEDC). The sister model, Audi Q5 TFSI e quattro, which has already been on the market since 2019, is now being equipped with the even more powerful battery.
