The WHO mission to China to uncover the origins of the coronavirus has failed to identify the animal source, but said there was no indication the sickness was in circulation in Wuhan before December 2019 when the first official cases were recorded. WHO foreign expert Ben Embarek, who was based in the WHO's Beijing office for two years from 2009, backs up the Chinese side's assertion saying there was no evidence of "large outbreaks in Wuhan" before then. The Israeli government officially fell apart on Tuesday at midnight local time. The collapse came after Israel's parliament failed to meet a deadline for passage of the 2020 and 2021 budgets. CNN reports Israel will now head to its fourth elections in two years, probably on March 23 next year. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz blamed one another for the collapse of their tenuous coalition government. Opinion polls suggest Netanyahu's Likud party is again on track to win the most Knesset seats in the next election. With Blue and White hemorrhaging support, Netanyahu's biggest rivals seem to be coming from other right-wing parties, which have been gaining ground.
Tropical cyclone Yasa is barreling towards Fiji, bringing hurricane-force winds to the Pacific island nation. The powerful storm has rapidly strengthened over the past 24 hours from a Category 1 storm to a high-end Category 4. According to CNN, dangerous winds have increased from 80 miles per hour to 155 miles per hour. The storm has the potential to strengthen over the next 12 hours, before weakening slightly as it approaches Fiji. According to experts, a Category 4 storm can be expected to cause "catastrophic damage." The storm is expected to reach Fiji on Thursday night local time (Thursday morning ET).
