Mumbai, Jul 7 (EFE/EPA).- Dilip Kumar, one of the most celebrated Indian actors, who earned the nickname of “The Tragedy King” for his lugubrious roles in Bollywood films, died on Wednesday morning, his family said. He was 98.Born as Yusuf Khan in 1922, the actor was more famous for his screen name of Dilip Kumar and dominated the Indian cinema during what is known as the golden age of Bollywood from the 1940s to the 1960s.He was ailing for quite some time and was admitted to a hospital a week ago. Pierre Cardin has died. According to CNN, France's Fine Arts Academy announced the sad news on Tuesday. The legendary French fashion designer was also a success on the business side of fashion. Cardin became a popular household name with designs including clothing, perfume, and even frying pans. His breakout creation was the bubble dress designed in 1954. Cardin was 98 years old.
CNN reports best-selling British espionage writer John le Carré died Saturday. He was 89. Born David Cornwell, his family said in a statement that he died from pneumonia not related to COVID-19. 'The Spy Who Came In From the Cold' was published in 1963 and made le Carré arguably the most famous spy writer in the world. Having studied at both Bern and Oxford universities, Le Carré also served briefly in British Intelligence during the Cold War. Le Carré's most famous works spanned some six decades. He wrote 26 books that have been published in over 50 countries and 40 languages.
