A small American automaker has just secured the title of world's fastest production car. SSC North America announced Monday that their Tuatara hypercar reached an average speed of 316.11 mph. According to CNN, the record-breaking feat came during two dashes outside Las Vegas. The vehicle was tested on a seven-mile stretch of a Nevada highway on Saturday. The car also reached the highest speed ever achieved on a public road, at 331.15 mph. SSC confirmed that two independent witnesses were on-site to verify the world records.

The McLaren Senna GTR was unveiled to the public at the Geneva International Motor Show in the Palexpo convention centre on Tuesday. Mercedes-Benz presented its jaw-droppiing hybrid electric Project One supercar at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday. The Project One is inspired by Mercedes' Formula One race-technology and comes with a 1.6-liter V6 hybrid, over 1,000 horsepower, and a blistering fast top speed of nearly 220 miles per hour. Of course, the $2.7 million price tag ensures that the Project One will only end up in the garages of the super wealthy.
