US Secretary of State Antony Blinken calls for elections in Senegal as soon as possible as he voices alarm on a vote delay in a call to President Macky Sall. Blinken "spoke to the president of Senegal this morning to reiterate our concern about the situation there and to make quite clear that we want to see elections continue as they were scheduled -- we want see them take place as soon as possible," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti says in an interview with AFP he hopes to normalise relations with the country's arch-rival Serbia this year, following several rounds of failed talks between the two sides. "Normalisation of relations with Serbia I wish for this year, for 2024, and in the next years and decades I want to come out victorious on issues like social inequality, climate change and security threats," Kurti tells AFP. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urges the UN agency for Palestinians (UNRWA) to address allegations its staff were involved in attacking Israel, but distanced himself from calls for its end. "UNRWA has played and continues to play an absolutely indispensable role in trying to make sure that men, women and children who so desperately need assistance in Gaza actually get it," Blinken tells reporters. "That only underscores the importance of UNRWA tackling this as quickly as effectively and as thoroughly as possible," he says after the United States suspended funding. SOUNDBITE
The United States urges Serbia to address election concerns after the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) reported irregularities. "We will urge Serbia to work with the OSCE to address these concerns," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. SOUNDBITE
