Chinese carmaker Qoros presented its new electric Model K-EV concept at the International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai 2017, taking place in Shanghai, on Wednesday. The Model K-EV is envisioned to feature two electric motors, producing 870 hp that will allow the car to propel from 0-100 km/h in less than three seconds. Additonaly, a 107 kWh battery pack, which is attached on the vehicle's floor, supplies power to its motors. The battery is designed to enable the concept car to reach up to 300 miles on a single charge. China's automotive industry has been the largest in the world since 2008. Chinese automakers produce more cars than the US and Japanese markets combined. In 2014, China produced over a quarter of the world's cars. Auto Shanghai is one of the world's leading trade fairs for automobiles. The show, which has taken place every two years since 1985, features thousands of exhibitions from all over China and the world.
Czech carmaker Skoda is betting big on China. They unveiled an electric concept car called the Vision E, through which they hope to take their place in the world's largest auto market. Skoda CEO Bernhard Maier's presence at the unveiling underscores the importance of the market to the company. Skoda's new Vision E electric concept car was unveiled at the 2017 International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai Expo on Tuesday. The four-seat crossover is based on VW Group’s MEB platform. Vision E has two electric motors delivering a combined 225kW of power. Designed in the Czech Republic, the Vision E is fuelled by liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery cells, and boasts a potential driving range of 310 miles. Japan's first floating hotel that protects guests against tsunamis was launched in the Dutch-themed Huis Ten Bosch theme-park in Nagasaki on Monday. The spherical capsule pod hotel room can be towed anywhere on the water. People living in the floating hotels can simply hire a towboat overnight and wake up on a different beach. Equipped with house beds, showers and toilets, each pod is designed to accomodate 2 to 3 people. And if the waves pick up, the floating hotel is designed to simply float right over them
Renault revealed its new driverless concept vehicle called the EZ-GO at the Geneva International Motor Show on Tuesday. EZ-GO is a Level 4 driverless vehicle, so it can change lanes, turn at an intersection, and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it. Users will be able to access the EZ-GO from an app or from fixed locations and will enter through a hatch which opens at the front of the vehicle, which also make the auto wheelchair accessible. The EZ-GO can accomodate up to 6 people at a time and features a U-shaped seating arrangement, making the ride a social experience.
