Discovery of the oldest surviving German-made Porsche 356

Description

What is today the oldest surviving German-made Porsche 356 was missing for decades. A mysterious call led two collectors to rescue it on a movie mission, to later restore it.The music becomes dramatic, the shots move faster and faster, and the action builds at a dizzying pace to a seemingly hopeless situation... and someone comes to the rescue at the last minute. It's very typical of action movies. But what happens in reality? This is a story of real life. And some of the events were so dramatic that they might as well be made into movies. The 71-year-old protagonist is named after Porsche 356 and is one of the automotive treasures of the 20th century. He was about to be lost forever, although he was finally saved.

  • New VR Tech Gets You Under the Hood of Your Car Without the Grease

As virtual reality tech develops, we are discovering new uses for VR every day. Any mechanic will tell you how many parts any vehicle can have, and how it's not always clear what repairs are needed to fix an issue. The Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research displayed its VR solution for car repairs, which allows users to see a full 3D model of all the parts a car can have, at the 2017 CeBIT digital expo in Hanover on Sunday, . The system is designed specifically for mechanics, but may soon be available commercially. The technology can be used to show a mechanic where he has to look for repairs inside a car or where to install the corresponding part, among other tasks. Held annually in Hanover, CeBIT is one of the world's largest tech trade fairs and will go on until March 24.
