New York/Washington, Oct 9 (EFE/EPA).- A federal appeals court in the United States on Friday reinstated the restrictive anti-abortion law enforced in Texas, just two days after a lower court judge had temporarily blocked it.The decision to reinstate the law, which came into effect on Sep. 1 and practically bans almost all abortions in Texas, was taken by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, considered one of the most conservative in the country. Guy Reffitt, of Wylie, Texas, was arrested by the FBI on Sunday in connection to the January 6 US Capitol riot. He's one of the hundreds across the country being rounded up for participating in the violent insurrection. But according to a charging affidavit, the 48-year-old oil worker extended his hatred of the government to his own children. The member of the far-right extremist group 'Texas Freedom Force' threatened to kill his son and daughter if they told the FBI he had taken part in the riot. If you turn me in, you're a traitor and you know what happens to traitors … traitors get shot. Guy Reffitt Business Insider reports Riffitt separately told his daughter he'd 'put a bullet' through her phone if she posted about him on social media.
In PA, MN, and TX, federal judges have ordered election officials to "segregate" certain ballots. The vote-by-mail ballots that arrive late are being set aside in case another court invalidates them. Around 127,000 votes that were cast at drive-thru locations in TX during the early voting period. Those ballots have been specially marked for the same reason, says Business Insider. All of these court orders came after extensive litigation and it's not clear how many votes are at risk.
Texas was blocking the free will of its female population with its 2013 regulations on abortion. Gladly, The Supreme Court just struck down this law, making the future of young women a brighter one.
