Ready, Set, Do Nothing! Koreans Compete to See Who Can Chill the Hardest

Description

Scores of South Koreans came out to a park in the capital Seoul to participate in one of the most grueling and challenging competitions known to man. Participants in the fourth annual Space Out competition sat down and, well, did nothing. Space out contestants literally competed against each other to see who could stare out into space and zone out the best. Participants are required to sit and do absolutely nothing for 90 minutes. Artist WoopsYang started the competition in 2014 to highlight the benefits of taking a break from the fast pace of modern life. Nothing means nothing, so participants can fall out of the competition for using phones, talking, sleeping, or even just moving slightly. Their heartrates are also measured to determine who is truly chilling out. This year local musician Shin Hyo-Seob won the gold for being the most spaced out, having the steadiest heartbeat of the last remaining competitors. Do you think you have what it takes to do absolutely nothing for 90 minutes and take on the champ of chill?
