U.S. Government Focuses Grant Program On Islamic Extremism Instead Of White Nationalism

The United States Department of Homeland Security announced changes to a 10 million dollar government grant program. It narrowing the grant's focus around efforts to combat Islamist extremism. The move shifted money to law enforcement offices and away from groups that combat U.S.-based extremism, which mostly comes in the form of white nationalists. DHS Secretary Kelly said the office would use the grant money to train officers to better recognize and address signs of alienation, which make young people vulnerable to extremism
