  • This is What You Get When You Combine a Bicycle With a Jet Engine

Russian inventor and daredevil Igor Negoda tested his newest design, a homemade jet engine-powered mountain bike, near Rostov last weekend. During tests on a local highway, Negoda's jet bike reached speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. With jet engine, gadgets, and fuel, the entire contraption weighs about 40 pounds, not much heavier than a regular bike. However, rocketing to these speeds with the help of the jet engine is not cheap. Seven minutes of jet engine assisted bike riding requires about a gallon of high-grade kerosene.

  • Revolutionary Twin-Fuselage Aircraft Tested in Wind Tunnel

Ruptly was given exclusive access to a revolutionary model of a twin-fuselage aircraft filmed in action for the very first time during a show-test in a wind tunnel at the Central Aero-Hydrodynamic Institute in Moscow. The aircraft is being designed for use by the Russian military and EMERCOM, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, especially for cases when they need to deliver both personnel and vehicles in one flight. The aircraft will fly like a regular plane and can land on most airfields, so no special skills are required from the pilots. In fact, It could be even more stable during landing and take-off than single fuselage planes. The project was developed in part to increase accessibility to remote Russian regions by reducing financial and technical demands.

  • Chinese KFC Uses Facial Recognition Tech to Give Fast Food Suggestions

KFC China has started using a new kind of technology to deliver a new type of experience for its customers. Believe it or not, if you stop in to order chicken at the KFC in Beijing’s Fuxingmen district, you will have your face scanned and the KFC computer will recommend a meal for you based on your appearance. The facial recognition technology is designed to remember customer's faces as well as their orders and to make suggestions based on customer data gathered over time. The Kentucky Fried Chicken Chinese branch has partnered with the country’s search giant Baidu to build a new location for its artificial intelligence and augmented reality technology. The new device is capable of analysing a customers’s facial features, and makes use of traits such as age, gender and facial expression to determine what each person should be eating at any given time. Even though the ability of artificial intelligence to detect behavioural traits using physical variables, called physiognomy, has not yet been developed to be completely effective, KFC China's pioneering use of facial recognition technology is certainly going to change customer experience and may even change how we think about fast food in general.
