It has only been a few weeks since the first photos of the all-new BMW X2 went around the world: Now, it is rolling off the assembly line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg. From now on, different types of drive train will be flexibly manufactured in Regensburg on a single production line – from models with internal combustion engines, to plug-in hybrids, to fully-electric vehicles. Up to 1,000 BMW 1 Series, BMW X1 and BMW X2 models are currently coming off the production line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg every workday – destined for customers worldwide.Lean, green, digital: With BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is also setting standards and redefining the future of automotive production at the Regensburg location. For example, BMW Group Plant Regensburg is the automotive industry's first plant worldwide to use an end-to-end digitalised and automated process for inspection, processing and marking of painted vehicle surfaces in standard production that relies on robots controlled by AI (artificial intelligence). For the plant, this represents another step towards the digital, intelligently connected factory.
Safety is optimised with DS DRIVER ATTENTION MONITORING and DS DRIVE ASSIST level 2 semi-autonomous driving. DS DRIVER ATTENTION MONITORING analyses the driver’s level of attention with two cameras. The first checks the behaviour of the car in its surroundings and the second, positioned facing the driver, diagnoses where they are looking and their face and eyelid movement which translates to the level of sleepiness and attention. This is unprecedented in the segment. New DS 7 is equipped with DS DRIVE ASSIST, adaptive cruise control that can initiate stopping and restarting without the driver intervening and an aid that enables the driver to keep the car either where it is or where they position it in the lane.
The joint project by Audi, Reiling, Saint-Gobain Glass and Saint-Gobain Sekurit started in January. The feasibility of a glass cycle for car windows will be examined in a one-year pilot operation. With research on recycling methods, quality and process reliability , recycled plate glass is intended to be used for car windows in the Audi Q4 e tron series.

Whatever the destination, cars will play a fundamental role in mobility, to travel around both the major tourist destinations and the most impressive rural hideaways.
