'Supergirl' and 'The Flash' Getting a Musical Crossover

Description

Get ready for singing superheroes. The CW, trotting out showrunners from its sprawling roster of DC Comics dramas on Thursday afternoon, is plotting a second crossover for the coming season. On top of the upfront-announced four-show (Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow) event for the fall, executive producer Greg Berlanti announced a special musical crossover for just Supergirl and The Flash. "We have a number of people across all of the shows who can sing and will be making an appearance in that," said Berlanti — emphasizing that it would be separate from the four-series crossover and likely not unfold until midseason. As for who would be involved, Supergirl star Melissa Benoist and The Flash's Grant Gustin are both naturally getting in on the singing. Both actors appeared on Glee during its run on Fox. Berlanti wouldn't confirm who else could be there, but noted that both John Barrowman (Arrow) and Victor Garber (Legends) have deep musical roots.

  • No Plans For Musical Episode In "The Flash" Season 4

The Arrowverse surprised fans with a musical crossover between 'Supergirl' and 'The Flash' last year. But according to actress Danielle Panabaker, the superheroes of the CW won't be breaking into song again anytime soon. Panabaker, who stars in "The Flash," told Comic Beat that are no current plans to follow up the 'Duet' crossover. She said, "To the best of my knowledge we’re not going to do that again this year. That musical was pretty ambitious." The episode, which aired in The Flash's third season, saw Barry Allen and Kara Danvers sent into a musical dream world, featuring Glee's Darren Criss. Albeit without musical numbers, mini-crossovers between "Flash" and "Arrow," as well as "Flash" and "Legends of Tomorrow" are expected early on in the season. "The Flash" returns for its fourth season on October 10th on the CW.
