Asus Wants To Reinvent DIY PC Building

ASUS's ROG division has unveiled a new product called the Avalon that's designed to improve the experience of PC DIY customization, that serious gamers enjoy so much, but without all the messy cabling. The Avalon is being called a modular PC, but that description is somewhat misleading. In fact It’s far less modular than building your own PC part-by-part because the mainboard is fixed as part of the Avalon chassis. You might be able to upgrade CPUs for a few years, but sooner or later Intel will come out with a better CPU and a new socket that the Avalon won’t be able accommodate.
