Some Instacart Workers Didn't Get Their Tips Because Of A 'Bug'

Description

On Friday, Instacart said in a blog post that it unintentionally shorted some of its workers’ tips and charged some customers a service fee who had waived it. The CEO faulted a “bug” for the mishap, noting in the blog post that it only affected under one percent of the orders from the end of 2017, when the product was updated. The company has resolved to reimburse its workers and customers for the money they lost due to the bug, and inform each of them of the amount they are being paid or refunded.

In these strange days in which tens of millions of Americans videoconference while they work from home, it's no surprise that occasionally, one may spy a bit of junk. First, wear clothing that covers you not only from the waist up. You might forget, and stand up. Oops! And remember that muting yourself on Zoom calls only mutes your audio. If you absolutely must get your rod and tackle out, hit 'stop video' first. Please!

  • If Everyone Is Cooking At Home, Why Isn't Whole Foods Booming?

With so many people working from home, restaurant traffic is down but grocery stores are getting plenty of business. But according to Business Insider, Whole Foods had 21% fewer visitors across its stores on October 4 compared to the same day last year. That flies in the face of other grocery store chains, where traffic is bouncing back much faster. At Kroger's, for example, business was only down 2%. A Whole Foods spokesperson said stores normally get a lot of lunchtime trade from office workers, who are now working from home. Sales of packaged sandwiches and salads have fallen 75%. For every five in-store shoppers Whole Foods Markets had last October, it now only has four.
