Protesters gather outside the BBC's headquarters for a march through central London in support of Palestinians. The war in Gaza was triggered by Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of more than 1,160 people in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures. Israel's subsequent offensive on Gaza has killed at least 27,238 people, most of them women and under-18s, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. IMAGES
The weekly Saturday protests in support of Palestinians returns to the streets of London, with police estimating around 15,000-20,000 in attendance. This comes a day after a US veto blocked a UN Security Council call for a ceasefire. Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 hostages -- 138 of whom remain in Gaza, Israeli officials say. In response, Israel vowed to destroy Hamas and launched a military offensive in Gaza that has killed at least 17,490 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. People take to the streets of London to march in support of Palestinians, calling for an end to the violence in Gaza. Protests have been held across Europe since the unprecedented October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel unleashed the latest Gaza war. Hamas is expected to release another 14 Israeli hostages in exchange for 42 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday, the second day of a four-day truce in their seven-week war. IMAGES
Almost 2,000 police officers are on duty as around 100,000 pro-Palestinian supporters are expected to march through London, with extra powers in place to protect landmarks honouring Britain's war dead. The march promises to be more fraught as it coincides with Armistice Day, which commemorates those who have died in conflict since World War I. IMAGES
