Nurburgring. Lamborghini was unbeatable in the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring: After Christian Engelhart (32 / Starnberg) and Mirko Bortolotti (29 / I) dominated in the Saturday race, the victory went to their team mates Rolf Ineichen (41 / CH) and Franck in the Sunday race Perera (35 / F). The second position went to Porsche duo Timo Bernhard (38 / Homburg / Saar) and Klaus Bachler (28 / A, both Küs Team75 Bernhard) for the second time this season, narrowly defeating championship leader Patric Niederhauser (27 / CH) and Kelvin van der Linde (23 / ZA, both HCB-Rutronik Racing) in the best Audi R8 LMS. "Wow, what a great weekend for our team", cheered premier winner Perera. "Yesterday the victory and the pole position of our team-mates and now we succeeded in the same - just great."
Most: In pleasant early summer weather, the Corvette C7 GT3-R pairing of Markus Pommer (28, GER) and Marvin Kirchhöfer (25, GER, both Callaway Competition) outclassed the rest of the field to win Sunday's ADAC GT Masters race and notch up a second victory of the season.
The title defense operation has begun: last year's champion Robert Renauer (34 / Manchehofen) and his new team-mate Thomas Preining (20 / A, both Precote Herberth Motorsport) lead the table after their victory in the Sunday race of the ADAC GT Masters opener in Oschersleben. The Porsche drivers won the second of 14 races of the season in front of the Audi drivers Ricardo Feller (18 / CH) and Dries Vanthoor (21 / B, both Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) and Rolf Ineichen (40 / CH) and Franck Perera (34th) / F, both Orange1 by GRT Grasser) in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo. "Definitely a very good kick-off weekend," says Sieger Renauer. "The season could not have started much better for us."
Hohenstein-Ernstthal: There were two surprise winners at the Sachsenring on Sunday, as the championship took yet another twist ahead of the grand finale at Hockenheim in two weeks' time. The Audi duo of Elia Erhart (30, GER) and Pierre Kaffer (41, GER, both EFP by TECE) exploited one of many safety car deployments in Sunday's race to make a tactically well-timed pit stop and claim a maiden ADAC GT Masters victory. With Sheldon van der Linde (19, ZA) and Kelvin van der Linde (22, ZA, both Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) in the runner-up spot and Jeffrey Schmidt (24, CH) and Stefan Mücke (36, Berlin, both BWT Mücke Motorsport) finishing third, the podium ceremony was monopolised by Audi R8 LMS drivers.
